time to plant.

We decided to put building our house on hold and stay here for awhile. The market just wasn't cooperating. blah.

Every time we've tried to build, it just hasn't worked out. Not the right time, not the right budget, not the right economy, etc. So everywhere we've lived has been just a stepping stone till we build on the land.

When we live on the land, that's when all our dreams will come true.

I have a binder full of house dreams. It's 10 years full of ideas and wants and wishes, just waiting for "the house". The hardest part of putting "the house" on hold...again...was putting my binder away...again. Back to temporary living. Until my wise (and handsome) husband said to me, "Why can't you have those things now? What are you waiting for? Go through your notebook and make it happen where you are."

He's so smart. I've just been waiting, not seeing. Not planting.

So the first thing we've done is put in our garden!! Hooray!

4 raised cedar boxes for vegetables and herbs, 2 long rows of 24 blackberry and raspberry bushes (that's right, 24. I'll make you a cobbler), and 4 blueberry bushes. And they look lovely in our fenced in neighborhood not-the-land back yard.

The rest of the house is coming...slowly. That's where I've been: lost in the huge world of design, and my notebook.

In the mean time, I'm enjoying where I'm planted.

Just waiting for berries.

I totally want a cobbler!

I waited for years for my dream home. I got it 2 years ago.

I promise you it is totally worth the wait. ~grins~

I get this. Completely. The tug for what could be, the focus to remain content in the "what is". I can't wait to see all that comes up back there!

I'll take you up on that cobbler.
I have a binder just like what you spoke of.
Full of my favorite house plans, furnishings, yards, decor.......you know it.
Mine is older then yours.
But I AM older then you.
good luck with the planting and making some dreams come true.

Hi! My name is Jessica. I don't know if you'll remember me. I met you at the Compound a few years ago on the Fourth of July when the other Cruzes invited our family to join for food and fireworks. My little brother is the one who got a little burned when a firework turned over.

Anyhoo, I just wanted to say that I love your blog and your style and everything that you stand for and do as an awesome, faithful mom!

I made a tote using your totally tote tutorial recently, and I love it! I posted about it on my blog if ya wanna see. I need a lot more practice before I can sew at your level, but thank you for sharing your talents with the world through your blog and for creating helpful tutorials so that amateurs like me can attempt to find the joy in creating that you do!

It is a land use and community building movement which strives for the harmonious integration of human dwellings, microclimate, annual and perennial plants, animals, soils, and water into stable, productive communities.}
