movie game. blah blah.

LeGrand guessed it, via Alice. Princess Bride.

way to go, LeGrand. woo capital hoo. you win a bag of fritos.

new rule. no way smart lawyers are allowed to play.
my next clue was really good. but that's okay. i'm happy for you and your fritos.

BTW...Conan was just being nice to me by not guessing it.

7.09.2008

movie game.

WOO capital HOO! Conan and I played some good ones on our double road trip, so my brain is full of 'em. We have different opinions on scoring, but I think I won. Just kidding, Conan won. Big surprise and big whoop. We both had some good ones though, so buckle up! (Good heavens, that was lame.)

I'm proud of this one. Knowing you guys, you'll guess it before I can pat myself on the back. But Conan didn't get it, so I have a sense of accomplishment already.

Here's it is...
lost love found. then fought for.

Oooh. It's a goodie.

So leave your guesses in the comments. If nobody gets it right by Friday, I'll give you another clue. Three clues in all. First one to guess it right wins a prize.

5.09.2008

movie game winner

Hooray Shannon! You're so right. And you so win, even if you've won before. It is a testament to your movie wisdom. Here's your prize...I admit it looks a little like an anteater.

And here's the clip I cry over. Happy Mother's Day.

movie game, 2nd clue

Okay, all right. This one is a little difficult. I assure you, everyone knows this movie.

You may say bad words at me for the technical-ness of this next clue, but somebody will figure it out. It's a tricky one. Don't stress out.

This movie was intended to be on the cover of the December 1941 issue of Time, but the idea was dropped when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, resulting in the United States entering World War II and reducing the box office draw of the film. Also, since the 1960's this movie has been publicly criticized for two scenes with racist intent. And...I may be giving away too much...but I picked this movie with a Mother's Day intent. Tears.

All right. Think. It's right there.

5.07.2008

movie game

An unlikely friend helps an outcast through difficult times, and pushes him towards taking a giant leap of faith.

Hmmm. See what you can do with that.

First person to guess it right wins a prize. Guess as many times as you want. I'll post another clue tomorrow.

4.22.2008

we have a winner!

Hooray! Alice wins! Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. A 1954 Hollywood Musical, Dani loves. I'm so proud of you, Alice. Perseverance.

I am totally impressed with all the guesses.

Here's what you win Alice... 4 brides and 4 brothers.

Complete with a cool carrying case...I haven't taken a picture of. I've got tons of ideas in store for more of these guys. I'll add them to the store, someday.

4.21.2008

movie game, 3rd clue

Oy vay, busy day. Sorry it took so darn long.

This is a hard one for me. 3rd clue. I haven't been here before. I had a good quote for this last day, but realize you can just google it. I had a good scene to re-create, but somehow it isn't as funny to tape myself playing the kazoo, without my sister here to laugh at...with...me.

I am confident at least 75% of you have seen this, maybe even more than once, at some time in your life. Here it goes, follow me here, the movie in a nutshell:

i pick you...okay...
i didn't mention that?...
manners...lovesick...
avalanche...captive...
baby...weddings...

Okay. I'm done with the trash talk. Somebody knows this.

4.19.2008

movie game...2nd clue

Oh, you guys are good. But wrong. I consider getting to the second clue a win. I thank you.

Here it is:

a bunch of breeches

I will post the 3rd clue, or the winner, on Monday.

I love the prize for this one. Oh so much fun.

4.18.2008

movie game, i'm gonna win

Okay Alice. You won't sleep tonight. This is such a good one. Ooooh, you're shakin'. I'm singing the Champion song.

Guess as many times as you want. I'll post another clue tomorrow. First one right wins.

Here's the clue:

i've been duped.
this is not a direct quote from the movie.

Seriously, if someone gets this, I retire.

Good luck. Not.

4.11.2008

argh, movie game

okay. fine.

congratulations, mia, it was batman begins. i love that movie.
argh because when I told Conan what my clue was I got a big wave of the arm and a "Get Rid of That One!", in a very loving way mind you. He knew right away. And apparently so did mia's brother-in-law, so...no boys allowed. that's my only hope.
Here's your prize. Email me with your address and i'll send it off.

maybe next week.

until then, watch the clip i am so excited about for The Dark Knight, due out this fall. I love Christian Bale...I mean...Conan you are so darn handsome and I could love no other as much as I adore you...I appreciate Christian Bale very much. Ever since Newsies. mmm. Love. Okay, I'll add a clip of that one, too, for those of you who haven't seen it. Because you should. Buy it for your kids, and watch it with them over and over.

4.10.2008

movie game

Here we go. I've got a good one. I need a win, just so I can impress my husband that although he may be able to guess my movies, uh, seldomly, I can surely stump the handful of people from across the country who like to humor me! He'll think I'm so good. I promise my clues make good sense once someone's guessed it.

So here's the clue:

fearful childhood experiences lead to a life unexpected
Oh yeah...bring it on. Yo momma goes to movies. Word. uh...
maybe the trash talking will make you nervous.
If you haven't played before, you can make as many guesses as you want. The first person to get it right wins. If nobody does, I'll give another clue tomorrow. If nobody does again, I'll give one more on Saturday, three clues in total. Then I win. Don't be afraid.
I'll post a peek at the prize tomorrow.

4.03.2008

movie game

Ay-carumba. I'm never going to get past the first clue. I've got to step up my game. No more mister nice guy! You guys are good.

Those were all excellent guesses, I am impressed, but Corrie was right. Darnet. I know for a fact she isn't psychic, so I guess she's just smart. Darnet. Check out her hilariously realistic dino photo on her blog, It's a Dewise! That leprechaun looks a little shady. The movie was...

Little Mermaid
Here's your prize, coralora...

It's a funky lookin' fish, with the quote "Whoa, what a swim." From the beloved Skuttle.

Okay, next week it's a grown up movie. Very, very complicated.

Thanks for playing.

4.02.2008

movie game

You're not getting a quote this time. This is how Conan and I really play; we play to win. I'm going to give you a brief description of the movie. If someone guesses it today, they have mental telepathy powers and are therefore disqualified, or deemed very intelligent. If there are no correct answers by the end of the day, I will give another clue tomorrow. Then one on Friday, and then I win on Saturday. You can guess more than once.

Here's your clue:

This movie has it all. Forbidden love. Betrayal. Deceipt. A deal. And a wedding.

Here's a peak at the prize...

Good Luck. I mean, I'm gonna win.

3.28.2008

movie game

okay, i don't wanna wait till Monday. I'm allowed to change the rules. I'm changing the winner rules, again, too. It's just going to be the first person to get it right, none of this mumbo jumbo two winner stuff. keep it simple, eh?

adamzes was totally right.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Here's a clip of the scene if you don't believe me. Fast forward it to around 3:45.

Hey, check out adamzes blog, Serendipitous Sagacity, good stuff. I especially liked this Kellie Coffey video she posted. I Would Die for That. Gratitude, about covers it.

okay, here's your prize adamzes!

Email me with your address and i will send an owl.

thanks for playing. i've got a good movie in mind for the next one. I may just stump ya. maybe.

3.27.2008

movie game

Okay, this will be fun. Conan and I play this on trips.

Here's how you play...

I give you up to 3 clues to a movie, you guess. Simple.

My clue can be a quote from the movie, a piece of the plot, a character description. Whatever.

If you know the movie, share your guess, with the movie's FULL title in the comments. Make sure you leave your name if its anonymous.

If nobody gets it right by Monday, I'll give another clue. If nobody guesses it still, I'll give one last clue on Wednesday, and admit I'm not very good at this game.

However, if one or more of you guess it right away, I will accept defeat and pick a winner at random from the correct answers on Monday, March 30. HOORAY! For the winner.

I can't show you what you win, it will give away the movie. I know that's not much motivation to play, stop complaining. If you know the movie, you're a fan, and you'll like the prize. If you really don't like it you can sell it on ebay. But it's cool, I think.

Each time we play, the prize will have something to do with that movie. And be cool. Promise.

Oooh, I love games.

Okay, here's the clue:

"page three-hundred and ninety-four"

hmm. that may be too easy. All right...go.

UPDATE: all right already, i see the flaw. if one person guesses it right, everyone else can cheat and give the same answer. That's not fair to the one who was right first. I could just have you email me your answer, but that's no fun. I could just say the first person who gets it right wins, but that's not fair for the ones doing yard work. So...there will be TWO prizes. One for the first person to answer correctly, and the other picked randomly...from correct answers...honest answers. Confusing? Yes. I wouldn't do it any other way.
