Isn't there a quota? I think in order to grow up healthy kids have to eat a certain amount of dirt... right? I just did a little research and for the age group 18 months - 2 years, it is perfectly normal behavior. As time goes by and if your child expresses a craving for dirt... check into the word Pica/eating disorders. Amazing what kind of questions a post like this poses for me... Yes, yes, and yes. My kids even eat mud.
My child prefers woodchips. And rock-hard, rotting "berries" from nearby trees at the park. Mmmm...
Unfortunately yes he does.
