variation on the ruffle theme.

So I bought this red shirt for $4 at Old Navy. I loved the color and the stripes, but it was too long and boring. So I ruffled it.

Now it's totally worth the $4 I could have bought two bags of Oreos with.

Ruffles are the new oreos.

  1. Love it! And I'm not even a ruffley girl! You should sell these for much more than a paltry $4. Put them in your shop...when you can. :)

  10. Okay, this is how I did it, Tiff.

I cut off the bottom of the shirt and cut the scrap into thin strips. Then I measured 4 strips as long as the neckline. I sewed down the middle of each strip with a loose basting stitch and then pulled one thread to gather them up. Then pinned them one at a time onto the neckline, and sewed it on with a regular straight stitch. I had extra strips, so I did one row the same way around the bottom of the shirt.

Easy peasy guys. You can do it.

I know pictures are better so next time I find a cheap shirt I'll document the process.

  15. We're drooling! "That is sooooo cool", says Lindsay. Kyle was nearby, and responds to Lindsay's statement, "That's not cool, it's a shirt Lindsay", what does he know when it comes to style - after all he is Brent's son, you know the man that wears tube socks with sandals!
